Etherfi withdrawals follow different routes for staking positions, vault assets and account balances
Etherfi withdrawals follow different timelines for staking redemptions, Liquid vault exits and transfers from Cash. Queued eETH and weETH exits require protocol finalization before the resulting ETH can be claimed. Instant staking redemption depends on available liquidity and its current limits. Liquid withdrawals through Cash settle automatically after processing, while token transfers and bank payouts follow their own requirements. A displayed portfolio balance can include assets backing outstanding debt or shares still invested in strategies. The amount that can leave therefore depends on the asset, selected route and account state. Timing estimates describe processing conditions; they do not establish when money will reach every destination.
In short: A completed vault withdrawal can still leave a staking token that needs a separate redemption to become native ETH.
The claim requirement stays the same while queue conditions change
The standard staking queue requires finalization before payout, while liquidity conditions change how quickly requests reach that point. Queue demand and the protocol's access to ETH affect the wait. During the April 18 to May 21, 2026 redemption window, requests became claimable in a median of 4.9 days. The longest recorded wait in that window was 16.7 days. Those figures measure request finalization, excluding any delay before a holder claimed funds. They describe that event and do not set a deadline for another withdrawal.
The available exit depends on the balance being held
Queued redemption preserves a claim while the pool obtains liquidity. Instant redemption exchanges eETH or weETH without queuing when liquidity, rate limits, pause status and address restrictions permit it. The contract supports ETH and stETH outputs, although a particular interface may expose fewer choices. stETH represents Lido staking exposure and requires a further exit if native ETH is the intended destination.
| Exit option | Asset received | Processing constraint | Control and settlement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard staking queue | ETH from eETH or weETH | Liquidity funding and request finalization | The NFT owner holds the payout claim |
| Instant redemption to ETH | Native ETH | Liquidity, rate limits and operating restrictions | Successful redemption pays the selected recipient |
| Instant redemption to stETH | stETH | Redemption limits plus price-feed checks | The selected recipient receives another staking token |
| Liquid vault redemption | A supported asset selected for that vault | Strategy liquidity and redemption processing | Vault contracts process the share redemption |
| Cash wallet withdrawal | A supported token on the selected network | Collateral requirements and network compatibility | Account authorization controls the transfer |
| sETHFI unstaking | ETHFI | The staked ETHFI processing period | The Cash Vault or personal wallet receives ETHFI |
| Bank payout | A supported fiat currency | Payment-rail eligibility and compliance review | The banking provider processes the payout |
Moving weETH out of Cash preserves its staking exposure. Redeeming liquidETH into weETH leaves a staking position, so neither operation completes an exit into native ETH.
When does a queued staking exit become claimable?
A standard staking request becomes claimable after protocol finalization, provided the request remains valid and the relevant address restrictions are satisfied. A withdrawal request NFT represents the payout claim for a standard queued staking exit. Its identifier records the queued position. It does not establish that ETH has reached the wallet.
weETH holders can use the withdrawal adapter, which unwraps their tokens and creates the standard request within one contract call. That adapter route does not require a separate preliminary unwrap transaction. The conversion rate determines the corresponding eETH amount; equal token counts do not imply equal ETH value. The pool also enforces configured minimum and maximum eETH amounts per request. An amount outside that range causes the request to revert.
Post-upgrade finalizations freeze the share rate used to calculate payouts and segregate ETH for the request. The claim amount is capped at the amount originally requested. A lower share value at finalization can reduce that amount. Requests finalized before the rate-freeze upgrade retain legacy accounting. Waiting after a new request has finalized does not add staking rewards to its payout.
Claiming burns the withdrawal NFT and sends ETH to its owner. Requesting and claiming are separate operations, so the gas budget includes the later claim. If the ETH payment fails, the claim transaction reverts.
ETH funding can involve validator operations without every request forcing an ordinary validator exit. Etherfi has used consolidation-based Spillover withdrawals to access balances through Ethereum's consolidation queue and withdrawal sweep. That capacity has prerequisites and a finite network budget. Heavy demand can affect processing even when this alternative funding method is available.
What determines Liquid withdrawal timing?
Liquid withdrawal timing changes with the selected vault, its available liquidity, redemption demand, strategy withdrawal cycles and settlement conditions. The displayed estimates for ETH Yield, BTC Yield and USD Yield are up to 3 days. Reserve and Euro Yield indicate about 3 days, while Real World Assets Yield indicates about 7 days. These processing estimates can change and are not guaranteed maximum waiting periods.
Liquid vault withdrawals through Cash send the proceeds automatically after processing, without a manual claim. An available output can be another staking token, so finishing the vault redemption can leave a separate staking exit. Depending on the supported route, ETH Yield withdrawals can return wETH, weETH or eETH. weETH and eETH retain staking exposure; wETH can be unwrapped into native ETH.
Some funds remain unallocated to improve withdrawal liquidity. The invested portion may need to leave underlying strategies before a redemption can settle. The vault's Breakdown view shows those allocations, including the withdrawal-liquidity portion. A currently liquid balance can help processing without establishing a permanent capacity guarantee. eBTC has a separate estimated withdrawal period of up to 14 days. BTC Yield and eBTC name different products, so the BTC Yield estimate cannot be applied to every Bitcoin-related position.
Cash transfers depend on remaining collateral and destination support
Removing an asset that secures borrowing reduces the collateral supporting the remaining debt and can restrict the transferable amount. The account may enforce a minimum Health Factor for a collateral-reducing withdrawal. Health Factor measures risk-adjusted collateral relative to debt, including accrued interest. A positive available-to-borrow figure is a different measure and does not establish a withdrawable token balance. Debt, collateral prices and the applicable risk parameters can change the amount that can leave. Repayment can increase headroom, while removing collateral can bring the position closer to liquidation.
A Cash wallet withdrawal transfers a selected token to a supported destination network. The token and network must both match the receiving wallet's support. Cash's cross-chain route has network-specific asset restrictions, so support on one network cannot be assumed on another. For Ethereum mainnet and Base transfers, the stated processing estimate is up to 1 hour. This estimate concerns the account transfer, not a staking redemption or a Liquid withdrawal.
Is sETHFI unstaking an instant conversion to ETHFI?
Unstaking sETHFI returns ETHFI after withdrawal processing, with an expected timeframe of up to 14 days. Pending Cash requests settle automatically once processing finishes. Cash-staked positions can exit through Cash, while personally held positions use the connected-wallet route. Keep the Cash account active until its withdrawal settles. This waiting period belongs to staked ETHFI and cannot serve as an estimate for eETH, weETH or Liquid vault shares.
Withdrawal costs follow the route and destination
Withdrawal costs depend on network execution, the selected redemption method and any conversion required for the destination. Instant staking redemption applies the exit fee configured for its output asset. Its immediately redeemable amount also depends on available liquidity above a reserve threshold and the remaining rate-limit capacity. A quoted output must be read after the applicable fee, with network gas treated separately. Bank payouts add their selected rail's charges and any applicable currency conversion. Eligible payout methods include USD ACH and EUR SEPA, with access depending on region and verification status. Withdrawal quotes show the applicable costs and timing before confirmation.
The next choice is whether you need a transferable token, native ETH or a bank balance; that destination determines which remaining exit steps apply.
Etherfi withdrawals - common questions
Can a standard staking claim be paid to an address other than the NFT owner?
A standard queued claim pays ETH to the address that owns its withdrawal NFT. Another eligible caller can submit the claim without choosing a replacement recipient. Transferring a valid request NFT changes its owner, subject to the contract's transfer restrictions, so transferring that NFT also transfers the payout claim.
Why did a token approval succeed without creating a withdrawal?
A token approval grants spending permission without creating a withdrawal request. An approval record therefore establishes authorization, while a successful request call establishes entry into the queue. The weETH withdrawal adapter also supports a permit-based request path, so its authorization need not always involve a separate approval transaction.
Which interface supports sETHFI withdrawals from a Cash Vault on Android?
Cash web provides the withdrawal route when the Android app does not support direct sETHFI unstaking from a Cash Vault. The same Cash withdrawal option is available on iOS. This restriction concerns the staked ETHFI function; it does not describe every token transfer. A stake held in a personal wallet uses the connected-wallet process.
Are gas fees refunded when a withdrawal transaction fails?
Etherfi does not reimburse gas spent on failed withdrawal transactions. A reverted on-chain operation can still consume gas even though the requested assets do not move. The cost depends on network execution and fees. A failed transaction also does not establish that a withdrawal request entered the queue.
What happens to a bank payout marked Action Required?
An Action Required status means the transfer needs the information requested in its Transaction History entry. That entry provides the place to submit it. A provider may require evidence of the transfer's purpose or source of funds regardless of the amount. The processing estimate does not remove that review requirement.
Can a bank withdrawal go to a third-party beneficiary?
Third-party bank payouts are supported subject to compliance checks. A first payment to a beneficiary may require manual verification. Later payments to that beneficiary may avoid another review, although further compliance checks can still apply. The selected payout method must also support the currency and the account's eligibility.
Is there a minimum amount for every bank withdrawal?
Bank payout minimums depend on the provider and payment rail when a minimum applies. The applicable minimum appears before confirmation. The absence of a universal bank-deposit minimum does not establish the withdrawal minimum, because funding and payouts use different rules.
Does redeeming legacy LQIDETHFIV1 immediately produce native ETH?
Redeeming legacy LQIDETHFIV1 produces liquidETH, which represents an ETH Yield vault position. The resulting vault token can be redeemed through that vault for weETH or eETH through the supported route. Those tokens have their own ETH redemption mechanisms. A completed legacy redemption therefore does not by itself establish that native ETH has reached the wallet.
